Game, set and match for the circular economy
In an exciting trial test together with the international sporting goods manufacturer Head, we demonstrated that it is possible to significantly reduce the CO2 emissions of conventional ball cans. Up to ten times more CO2 can be saved with our new, fully recyclable ball cans. This progress is an important step towards a true circular economy that benefits both the environment and the sporting world.
Ulrike Pichler-Knaus from Saubermacher’s Consulting division explains the advantages of the new ball cans in the video together with Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.
The new ball cans are made from recycled PET and boast a shorter sleeve, less ink and brighter colours. These features not only make recycling easier, but also actively contribute to minimising the environmental impact. Our aim is to encourage players and clubs to recycle the cans in order to fully utilise the environmental benefits of this innovative solution.
We are proud to make a sustainable contribution to our environment together with Head and the tennis community. Would you like to make your products recyclable in the future? We would be happy to support you with product design and recycling concepts. We look forward to your enquiry.
“Through close collaboration with the company Saubermacher, we were able to develop an innovative and more recyclable ball can at HEAD. Saubermacher provided valuable insights through their tests and investigations, highlighting necessary changes to the can, sleeve, and lid to significantly improve the recyclability. Following checks confirmed that our new ball cans have the potential to save ten times more CO2 compared to the old models. We are proud of this sustainable development and look forward to contributing to environmental protection.”
