There are already nine successful PPPs with Saubermacher in Austria, responsible for disposal of waste from some 675,000 residents. This cooperation model is also a tried and tested approach internationally, with PPPs also in place in Hungary, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and North Macedonia. Saubermacher has a total of nineteen partnerships spread across five countries.
The partnership with the city of Villach, Villacher Saubermacher, has been in place since 2001 and employs around 90 people. The joint company handles local-authority waste disposal for around 65,000 residents. In addition, Saubermacher also operates the waste management centre in Villach. Villacher Saubermacher is a forerunner in digital services, such as a recyclable materials scanner, smart collection platform and smart waste bins. Residents benefit from comprehensive services and products, such as soil and compost, event services and room modules.
