In accordance with Article 11 of the Waste Management Act 2002, operations with more than 100 employees must appoint a professionally qualified waste adviser.
Monitoring obligation: The waste adviser is responsible for monitoring compliance with waste management legislation and decisions based on those laws.
Information obligation: In addition, management must be regularly informed of any potential, lack or other abnormalities.

A waste adviser must have knowledge of waste regulations, etc. There are different ways that this qualification can be supported. All seminar organisations offer training for waste advisers. Successfully completing these courses is recognised in current practice as evidence of a professional qualification.
The owner of the company must support the waste adviser with his or her responsibilities by ensuring that he has sufficient working time, access to further training and essential tools.
